Brief info about Lake Ogemaw
Lake Ogemaw is a private lake located in Ogemaw County, Michigan just outside of West Branch near the Ogemaw County Fair Grounds. The lake was damned up in the late 50's - early 60's to form the lake. Before this the land where the lake sits was a low laying marsh/swamp. Due to this there are several stumps in the lake. The average depth is 3-8 feet with some area being just past 20 foot near the dam. The dam is located on the south west corner of the lake and drains into the Rifle River.
Access to the lake is restricted to current residents and there guests. There are two launches on the lake which are both privately owned and locked. During the holiday weekends the Ogemaw County Sherriff can be seen patrolling the lake making sure everyone is having a safe time and is obeying all laws including the Michigan wake laws.
